Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey

Last week we heard on the radio that the circus was coming to town. We all go so excited about it! Emma's best friend, Zoe, would be joining us for the girl's 1st circus adventure!

Of course I had to plan what they would wear. I started looking online for circus shirts but decided I could make them (I had all the supplies except plain white shirts).

Melissa (Zoe's mom) made the cutest bows

Ringling Brothers here we come!

Super excited!

The Hawkins Family

That's Scarlett in the clown mask!

We ended up on the 2nd row and a clown came RIGHT next to us! The girls LOVED it and were dancing most of the time!

It couldn't have been a better experience! No a single tear was shed. All smiles from 4 little girls :) Scarlett even managed to take a nap through part of the 1st half. The girls loved getting popcorn and snow cones. We can't wait till they come into town again!

All About Reese

I was recently asked how Reese was doing. I'm behind on blogging and tend to focus on the baby milestones right now...I'm sorry Reese! So here's the newest with our almost 3.5 year old:

Reese LOVES bugs!
Maybe one day she will be an entomologist (studying bugs).
She found a dead beetle in the front yard

She found a live cricut in the house

A HUGE live walking stick in the back yard

She LOVES her hair (and nails) done!
Her hair is finally long enough (barely) to do a french braid!
Her 1st french braid (which she now asks for daily)

She LOVES surprises!
I surprised her with a circus shirt that I made since we are going on July 4th to see Barnum & Bailey

She LOVES being outside!
At Woodlawn Lake Park

Sliding @ MoMaks Burger Joint

She LOVES the zoo!
She looks at an animal then says "ok, let's go look at something else".
At the petting zoo

Train Ride @ Zoo

She LOVES snuggle buddies!
Getting a new snuggle buddy: Alvin

She LOVES building castles!
She says "do you want to build a boy castle or a girl castle?"
A girl castle with the Daddy's help

She is growing up so fast it isn't funny!
  • She weighs 29lbs
  • She says "I'm growing up, see?!"
  • She has been completely diaper free (even at night) for quite some time now.
  • She can spell her name & knows her address (house # and street name).
  • She desperately wants to ride the school bus! She says "in 2 more birthdays I can ride the school bus!"
  • Reese wants her ears pierced with "diamond earrings", which we will have done when we think she is ready. We are getting there ;)
  • She has yet to have a haircut, but we will be getting a small trim soon to stimulate growth (praying we won't lose the curls!)
  • She also LOVES getting dessert and has started eating meals much better lately in order to get some "chocolate".
  • The other day she told me "mom, we don't run with scissors!"

Reese we love you dearly!!!! You impress us on a daily basis with your knowledge and continue to teach us! Thank you for making us parents!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Scarlett Kate!

Happy 1/2 Birthday Scarlett Kate!

6 months already?!?! Wow, I don't think time can go by any faster! Please slow down, you are growing up too fast!

Nursing: By some miracle I have managed to continue breastfeeding Scarlett without any formula use! It is not so easy hauling my pump to clinicals and finding an empty room to "hide" in as I call it to pump but I've stuck to it and am so proud of her little rolls!

Activity: Scarlett has been sitting up all by herself for some time now! She is incredibly strong and can even walk in her Around-We-Go toy!

Puzzled

Smiles

Smirk

Talking: Scarlett has found her voice and loves to use it! She is consistently trying to say "mama"...sorry Cody, but I get this one!

Teeth: She has 3 bottom teeth and the top two are VERY close to cutting soon!

What Daddy dresses her in =P

Solids: We did introduce homemade applesauce 2 days ago and she literally threw up...poor baby! She actually does better with the puffs (which we break into fourths so the pieces are tiny) so she can start chewing on something with those teeth!

Sleep: Unfortunately, we aren't getting much sleep lately with the constant teething. She isn't fussy or crying with it but mainly wanting to nurse constantly. We still swaddle her at night but it's mainly just to keep her legs warm because she instantly pulls her arms out and usually sleeps with them above her head.

Play: She loves to play with her sisters' toys! This is for you Granddad!

Scarlett, we love you with all our hearts! You are the strongest, happiest, & most content baby and for that we are grateful! I can't wait to see where you rank on the growth charts tomorrow. I'm sure in no time you will be crawling and walking soon after.

Go Scarlett Go!

This little kiddo isn't even 6 months old yet and watch her walk around in her toy that I pulled out last week! Listen closely in the beginning because she's trying to say "momma"!

Happy Father's Day 2012

Sunday was Father's Day and we tried our best to make it perfect for Cody! We started off with a breakfast room service order...
scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, bacon, OJ, & coffee with mocha
Someone must be a great father!

Then the girls snuggled with Daddy while he opened their cards...

Reese gave him a princess card & Emma gave him an iDad card (like the iPad she always plays with)

Scarlett has her's ready!

Reese was so proud of her gift!
All About My Daddy

Emma's gift was adorable with the help of her school teacher!

Emma also gave Daddy an iPhone case with a built in bottle opener

Mommy gave him 2 different IPA beer brewing kits and some 12oz bottles

Scarlett gave Daddy a new shirt "Daddy needs a beer"

Happy Father's Day to the most AMAZING father one could hope for for their children!

To finish it off we worked hard on a yummy dessert....
Cupcake Burgers and Sugar Cookie Fries

Recipe here

We all love you Cody!!! Happy Father's Day!!!
