3 More To Go...

I'm a bit delayed on posting this. I recently finished another quarter of my WHNP program and this was my 1st quarter that included clinicals. I had a great experience with my preceptor :) This was a pretty busy and tough quarter for me but I manage to finish with straight A's!

Only 3 more quarters to go...and I start a new set of clinicals tomorrow! I will be at a Urology clinic here in San Antonio with a DNP, FNP dealing with bladder dysfunction and women's sexual dysfunction. It will be interesting to experience a different aspect of women's health.

Grandparent's Ceremony

Happy Grandparent's Day (9/11/11) to Meme, Granddad, Nana, Papa & Great-Grandma!! 

Reese performed in her 2nd annual Grandparent's Day Ceremony at school and we just LOVE watching her :) Next year Emma will be old enough to get on stage as well. I will apologize in advance for the quality of these photos. It is so hard to take good pictures in a dimly light church chapel.

24 Weeks!!!!

Woohoo!! We have finally made it to the BIG milestone: 24 weeks = viability!!! This means if I happened to deliver from this point on Scarlett would have a fighting chance at survival. Next big milestone is 28 weeks then 32 weeks :)

I still feel absolutely great! The heartburn has significantly decreased already. Check out the comparison of my pregnancies ;)

We went to our monthly perinatalogist visit yesterday to check on Scarlett's growth. So far everything is perfect!! She's measuring 23 weeks (her head was measuring 24-25 weeks) with an estimated fetal weight of 1# 5oz, which is right on target. She is transverse again which means she is laying completely sideways. They spent a while looking at her heart and the blood flow through her umbilical cord. So far the heart looks great but they will continue to closely monitor it along with her growth monthly.

We have also decided on her full name :)

Lovely Weather!!!

Can this weather be real?!?! It is only 82 degrees in San Antonio right now with a great breeze. The girls and I went for a LONG walk and then had a picnic on their new picnic table. 

Then the girls played on the driveway with chalk and Emma got a driving lesson :)

23 Weeks!!!

I feel like I just blogged about being 22 weeks and now another week has passed. I feel great!!! I am feeling Scarlett more and more now...and she's already getting hiccups :) I "believe" she is head down based on being kicked in the ribs. I saw my OB yesterday and everything is on track. Her heartbeat was strong and he gave me the glucose to drink in the next few weeks for the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. I see the perinatologist on Tuesday for my growth sono and can't wait to see Scarlett in action!!

Her crib bedding arrived yesterday day and we love it! I'd like to wait till the furniture is here before posting a picture. It just doesn't have the grand appeal sitting on the floor...plus I need to iron the wrinkles out ;)

Update: Emma

Shortly after my blog post yesterday, Emma spiked a BIG fever...105! I took it twice because I didn't believe it (although she sure was acting it). I immediately gave her Motrin (she had already had Tylenol that morning), put her in the bath and got the pediatrician on the phone...which is not easy during lunch hour. We debated for a while on the phone if we should go to the hospital or back to the pediatrician's office for another assessment. The doctor's biggest concern was if she needed an IV or not...I assured her she was drinking fluids adequately. With that we went back to the pediatricians office. They had planned on doing a full work up of blood culture and urine but decided to run a rapid strep test before starting all that. Emma slept right through the throat swab and even the full assessment of having her ears checked (again). The test was positive for strep. Most likely source: The Children's Museum we just went to. No one else at the girl's school is sick at the moment. She slept most of the entire day and was awake for maybe a total of 3 hours the whole day. As long as I was holding her, she was sleeping. Although I love these moments, I don't want her to be sick and hurting.

I've had a lot of messages today asking how Emma is doing and am blessed to have so many people in our lives who care. We couldn't get her fever below 103 yesterday. We started the Augmentin at dinner. We woke up every few hours to rotate giving Tylenol/Motrin. Emma is doing better today. Her fever is not as high and manageable with the medications. She is drinking fluids fine but has really stopped eating solids since her throat hurts. Cody went and bought all the goodies for a sore throat today: vanilla ice cream, popsicles and yogurt :)
