39 Weeks!!!!!!!!

I honestly didn't think I was going to make it to 39 weeks! Last week I was really contracting well and Cody and I both thought Emma was going to be here any minute. It was a blessing that she did not actually come since Reese came down with a very contagious virus on Friday. Emma's movements have drastically slowed down since she dropped this last week. She is officially out of room!!

Today I had my last OB appointment! Total weight gain: 33#. I am 3cm/75% effaced and got my membranes stripped!! Induction is set for this Thursday at 5:30am :)

39 Weeks (Emma):

39 Weeks (Reese):

39 Weeks:
Your baby's crown-to-rump length at this time is approximately 14.4 inches and the total length is approximately 21.5 inches. The average baby weighs a little more than 7 pounds now and is preparing for birth. You are probably as big as you are going to get and may be uncomfortable now. Most women gain between 25 and 35 pounds during their pregnancy.

Although your baby continues to grow and develop inside of your uterus, there is not much room for him to move about. All of your baby's organ systems are now complete and the lungs were the last to fully mature.

Most of the lanugo on your baby should be gone by now. Your baby still may have some on his shoulders and in the creases of his body. Your baby's toenails have reached the end of his toes. The umbilical cord is about a half inch thick and may be wrapped around him. The umbilical cord still supplies the baby with nutrients that he needs. After delivery, your baby's umbilical cord will be clamped and cut. After it is cut, he will be an independent human being and must perform all of his body functions on his own. Your baby will get antibodies from your body that give his immune system a boost.

Reese:
Reese decided to catch one last virus before Emma's arrival. She was diagnosed with the Coxsachievirus but recovered from it fairly quickly. She had a fever, sore throat, pain in her mouth and tummy for 2 days. She is now back to her peppy self just in time for Emma's arrival! The thought of not being able to let Reese kiss on her new baby sister if she arrived over the weekend absolutely killed me! I prayed Reese would recover quickly and that Emma could hang out a few days more!

The Drop!

I am very excited to say that Emma has "dropped".
I never did drop with Reese so this is a new experience for me :) After our 1.3 mile walk yesterday morning I noticed Emma was much lower. We did another 1 mile walk last night and she is now definitely lower! Even Reese's pediatrician said I looked "low".

On that note, Reese was diagnosed this afternoon with Coxsachievirus after having 104.5 fever at school. She has sores in the back of her throat that the pediatrician saw. This of course "just has to run its course" although we were instructed to give a benadryl/maalox mixture to coat her sore throat.

The goal now is NOT to have a baby this weekend since Reese is contagious :'(

Contractions/Decisions & Crafts :)

Contractions
I have been dealing with contractions for the last few days off and on. Mostly they wake me up at night, I have been up the last 2 nights timing them. The 1st night I woke up at 2:30am and was contracting every 2-2.5 minutes consistently for several hours. However, they never got strong enough to load up the car and head to the hospital. I finally fell asleep around 5:30 or 6am. The next day I was hurting a bit more but had lost the consistent pattern. Last night was a full moon so we were hoping with that and the 2+ mile walk we did that Emma would decide to arrive :) I started contracting at 5am and they HURT (enough where I was having to breathe through them). I started timing them and got excited when they were only 2-5min apart. Around 5:45 I started thinking I should go take a shower and then wake up Cody to go to the hospital. Well wouldn't you know, they decided to suddenly fizzle out :'( I fell asleep from 6-7am and woke up hurting and sore but no more pattern to my contractions.

Decisions
Emma is teasing us! I desperately want these contractions to step it up a notch and do something!! So with the excitement of her coming sometime soon & lots of family talking we decided that we will not refuse an induction on 9/30 if I am still pregnant. Due to my 3 grad. classes I just started (i.e., assignment due dates and quizzes), my sister only being able to visit on Oct. 1st weekend, and my body being ready for labor we decided that we need our little girl to be here soon!!

Cody's prediction is that Emma will arrive on Sunday during the Cowboys vs. Texans game :) My prediction was last night due to the full moon.

I am hoping that IF I am still pregnant on Tuesday for my 39 week appt that I will at least be 3cm dilated with everything I have been feeling (was 2cm at 38 weeks).

Crafts
I am not sure if it was a pre-baby moment or what but I had a sudden urge to be "crafty". So... I made this wreath for Halloween for our front door :)

I just used an 18" styrofoam wreath, garland, ribbon, felt spiders that I glittered, and a trick or treat sign. I think it turned out pretty well!!! When Reese sees it she says "WOW"!!

We just need to hang it on the door!!

38 Weeks!

I can't believe I am seriously at this point now! Only 2 weeks until Emma's due date. This morning I had my regular OB appointment and I am 2cm and 50% effaced! That is progress from last week and I hope my body keeps making progress!! My total weight gain is 32#...yikes!

Next Tuesday I will be 39 weeks, which means my OB is then be willing to do an induction. He said if my body doesn't seem ready at Tuesdays appointment, then we will continue to wait. Otherwise he is aiming for induction that Thursday (9/30). However, Cody and I are unsure if we "like" that day b/c we were really hoping for at least October 1st. So we might end up saying no to the 9/30 induction....decisions....decisions. And then of course we have to take into consideration that she may just decide to come on her own before then anyway!

38 Weeks:

38 Weeks:
Your baby continues to grow this week and weighs about 6.8 pounds. His crown-to-rump length is still about 14 inches and total length is around 21 inches. Most women do not grow any larger during the last few weeks of their pregnancy.

Your baby could be born any day now, but only 5% of mothers deliver on their actual due date!

Reese:
Cody and I have noticed that Reese's eyes are changing. They no longer look blue at all. They are a beautiful golden hazel color with a ring of yellow. It will be interesting to see if they stay this way or change to brown.

She is saying multiple words together to make a short sentence, which makes understanding what she is trying to communicate so much easier :)

Some of her favorite phrases are:
"Oh No!"
"Oh mess!!"
"Color, please"
"Thank you dada/momma"
"Night, Night Baby"
"All done"
"oh, boo boo...medicine?"
"water, ice"
(meaning ice water...yes she has realized ice water just tastes better!)

37 Weeks/Grandparents Day!

Woohoo...Emma is FULL TERM!!
I can't believe I finally get to say that! This is the last milestone to reach until delivery :) I feel great and she is moving a lot still. I feel like I can't possibly get any bigger...haha! Total weight gain: 30#. I am now 1cm dilated and 25% effaced (which is progress from 2 weeks ago). My OB will discuss an induction date at next weeks appt for my 39th week!!

This past week I have started having insomnia issues due to being uncomfortable laying in bed. I wake up every 2-3 hours nightly now. I think the body gets you ready for those sleepless nights at the end of the pregnancy. I remember going through this same thing with Reese at the very end. We are all ready for you little miss Emma!!

37 Weeks with Emma:

37 Weeks with Reese:

37 Weeks:
You are considered full-term now and your baby's final touches are being made. The crown-to-rump length of your baby is now 14 inches and the total length is around 21 inches. Your baby weighs approximately 6.5 pounds.

Your baby is now fully mature and ready to be born. However, your baby is still growing and developing every day. Fat is still being laid down at a rate of a half ounce a day.

Your baby has learned to coordinate sucking, swallowing and breathing so it can do all three when breastfeeding after birth. Babies practice shallow breathing before birth, using amniotic fluid.

Reese:
Reese can basically say any word now. She has been saying her own name for several weeks and can name all her friends at school. She is doing great learning her colors! She can say all the colors and gets "orange" right about 95% of the time. We work on them every night when coloring or eating colored food. She thinks it is a fun game :) Her favorite thing to do right now is go on a "walk". She begs to go on walks everyday!! So we take nightly strolls around the neighborhood once the sun starts setting. She loves to point out the airplanes, birds, rocks, bugs, dogs, etc as we take our walk :)

She is very ready for Emma to arrive:

36 Weeks/19 Months

I am officially 9 months pregnant!!!
Only 1 more week until Emma is full term and only 4 more weeks till she's here :)

I had my weekly appointment today with a sono. I am proud to say I still have not gained any weight, so my total weight gain is 29#. Emma's estimated fetal weight is 6#2oz so far and my amniotic fluid level is normal. I almost passed out during the sonogram from laying flat on my back though :(

At 37 weeks, Reese was estimated to be 6#13oz and she only weighed 6#10oz at birth (39 weeks). So Emma still seems to be pretty tiny.

36 Weeks:

Here is Emma's sweet little face!!

36 Weeks:
By this week of pregnancy your baby's crown-to-rump length reaches about 13.5 inches and the total length is approximately 20.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 6 pounds now. You may have gained about 30 pounds by now and it is common for your weight to stay about the same from this point onwards.

Your baby's face has filled out significantly and looks smooth and plump. Because your baby has powerful sucking muscles and has had layers of fat forming for quite some time now, the cheeks have filled out like a newborn's. Your baby's skull is firm, but not hard. Every baby's head has the ability to give slightly so that there is room for her to fit down the birth canal during delivery.

Reese:
Happy 19 Months Reese!

This past week Reese was sick with a viral fever of 103-104 for 3 days. She is finally bouncing back to being herself.

Her Meme brought over a "get well" present and Reese LOVES it!

I have added a poll on the right side of my blog to vote on when you think Emma will arrive!!

Potty Training At It's Finest...

Gotta Love It!!
Reese even wiped the doll's butt with toilet paper :)
We gave the doll a sticker for "going potty"!
